This sutra wrapper is a Buddhist handicraft made with bamboo and is designed to keep the scroll-type Buddhist Scripture in good shape. This wrapper is made by splitting thin pieces of bamboo and by weaving them with colored threads into a rectangular shape. The end part is attached to a triangular piece of silk cloth using a string to tie up the roll. The bamboo side, woven with the colored threads, has flower patterns at the center; its edge is attached to the silk cloth on which paper was glued inside. Although the sutra wrapper is heavily damaged and worn out on the whole, the colorful patterns still remain. It is regarded as highly valuable since it is the only remaining one of its kind in Korea.
