In 1089 (or the 6th year of the reign of King Seonjong of Goryeo), Yi Ja-hyeon left his position in the government and started a new life as a hermit at Cheongpyeongsa Temple. It contains several historic sites, such as Hoejeonmun Gate (Treasure No. 164), Cheongpyeongsa Temple Site (Gangwon-do Monument No. 5), and Three-story Stone Pagoda (Cultural Heritage Material No. 8).The area displays beautiful natural scenery complete with valleys, pond, swamps, flat-surfaced rocks, grotesque-looking rocks, and falls.
