The "Bomul", or Treasure, refers to important tangible cultural heritage such as wooden or stone buildings, books, paintings, sculptures, archeological materials and armory. Among the "Bomul", those of outstanding cultural, historical value are designated the "Gukbo", or National Treasure.

The "Gukbo" is not necessarily more important than the "Bomul". However, the former is of a much rarer value.
