Tightrope Walking at Gyeongbokgung Palace:

Revival of the Scene from the Movie "King and the Clown"

The Cultural Heritage Administration is going to give a traditional cultural performance in front of Geunjeongmun Gate in Gyeongbokgung Palace on March 4th and 5th. The performance will be composed of two Important Intangible Cultural Properties: No. 3 Namsadang nori (a vagabond troupe's performance) and No. 34 Gangnyeong talchum (a mask dance drama). As the performance includes Namsadang nori (farmers' band music & rope walking) shown in the movie "King and the Clown" which has hit the ten-million-viewer mark, it will not only give an opportunity for audience to enjoy Korean traditional culture but also stir up feelings from the movie. The Administration also plans to award a prize to the production team of the movie for their contribution to raising people's awareness of the artistic spirit of traditional cultural performers. Without paying an additional charge, any visitor to Gyeongbokgung Palace can watch and enjoy the performance.
