Delegation from the Ministry of Nature and Environment of Mongolia Visits Korea

On an invitation by the Cultural Heritage Administration, a delegation from the Ministry of Nature and Environment of Mongolia visits Korea from March 3 rd to 8th in order to attend the 4th round of meetings for the exchange of natural heritage between Korea and Mongolia. Nergui Jambaldorj heads the delegation of six people.

The two countries signed an Agreement on Exchange in the Field of Natural Heritage in March 2004. In 2005, each countrys government officials paid a visit to the other country to hold working-level meetings on the exchange of natural heritage. Then, Korea and Mongolia conducted a joint study on the migration routes of eagles between the two countries and agreed to hold an international symposium in Mongolia based on the findings from the study.

The agenda of the 4th round meetings include measures for the second joint study project between Korea and Mongolia (Chinese geese etc.), detailed planning for the June symposium in Mongolia, and measures to expand the scope of exchanges to the whole cultural heritage. Also discussed will be the issues regarding the invitation to the ceremony celebrating the 800th anniversary of Genghis Khan in the early July this year.

The Mongolian delegation is to attend the eagle-feeding events in Paju, Gyeonggi Province on March 5th, which are co-organized by the administration and The Korea Association for Bird Protection. They are also visiting Korean natural heritage sites such as the migratory birds wintering site in the Cheonsuman Bay in Seosan and the coastal sand dune belt in Sindu-ri, Taean.
