Gyeongju-Pohang line was opened on October 31, 1918, and rail connecting Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongju opened on December 16, 1935. Donghaenambu Line was constructed to transport seafood from the East Sea and resources from Yeonseon. Songjeong Station began its operation as a way station on December 16, 1934 and was promoted to an ordinary station on June 1, 1941 (assumed to be the same date of new station construction). The cargo business stopped in July 1976, and the station is currently being used as a way station.
