This is the building of Yangijae established within the palace when the final government controlled repairing work (1904-1906) of Gyeongungung Palace was put into operation between 1906-1910. The building was used as the modern educational institute for the Royal family and nobility. In 1927 the building was reconstructed after transfer of its ownership on the present location and the floor, wall, roof and the pavilion-like basic platform were changed a bit, but its basic structure and the state of its sides have been preserved comparatively well. This facility is valuable in that it is related to Gyeongungung Palace in Korea’s early modern times, and that it was used to provide modern education to the nobility.
