The church was built by the ROK VI Corps (under corps commander Yi Han-lim). Although wooden floor and its roof were destroyed by fire in 1990, the church still exhibits the typical decoration features (bell tower and sharp arch windows and doors), spatial characteristics (single-hall auditorium plan), and granite masonry technique of stone churches constructed immediately after the Korean War. Many stone churches were built after the Korean War, but Pocheon Catholic Church is the only one remaining among those built by the army corps.
