This church was established by Kim Jong-suk (1872-1956), an official of the Ministry of Land Surveying during the late Korean Empire period. The chapel was originally a square building of 3 kan (a unit of measurement referring to the distance between two columns) x 3 kan size, but it was expanded with red bricks when an entrance was built in the front in 1990. The inner auditorium and arch-type wooden decoration remain in their original form. Myeongdongseoksuk, which was built along with the chapel, was used to educate believers in religion, Korean literature, mathematics and Chinese characters. This church is valuable in that one believer, instead of a missionary or organization, established it out of his devotion.
