This house was built by Bak Byeong-jib (pen-name: Hacheongong), the 14th descendant of Bak Chung-won who served as grand master after Yi Hwang (pen-name: Toegye), and his son, Bak Chae-gyu (pen-name: Manam). It was constructed as shrine to cherish the relics of their ancestors. With Hacheonjae in the center, Gyeongmoheon House and Sesimheon House are positioned in symmetry. The center of the estate enshrines the tablet of the family ancestors. Combination of auditorium and shrine in one building exhibits the new trend of shrine architecture during the modern era. The estate is now used as ‘Hacheon Dasuk’ to educate and disseminate tea ceremony.
