North American Aviation’s T-6 Texan was originally designed and produced on a licensed basis in Canada in 1935, based on the existing T-6. The advanced ‘AT-6’ model was equipped with minimum land-strike capability. In May 1950, South Korea bought ten T-6 aircraft with a national donation of $300,000 from Canada, and named them ‘Founder Aircraft’.
The plane is worthy of registration as a cultural heritage as it was purchased by national donations from all over the country, and symbolizes the mutually dependent relationship between the people and the army and the nation’s determination to be self-reliant in matters of national defense.
