Established in 1940s
This house was built by recycling materials obtained by purchasing and demolishing the building of a folk religion called ‘Bocheongyo.’ After the fall of Bocheongyo, a large landowner of Gobu region called Jo Sang-won purchased the building around 1938 and spent 2 years constructing this house. In anchae (women’s quarters), ondol (floor heating system) rooms are concentrated around the kitchen in ‘田’ shape. The narrow wooden floor in front of anchae and the floor in its right side are connected in ‘ㄱ’ shape to efficiently control the passage to each room, exhibiting characteristics of modern Korean-style House.
