This document is an activity report issued by the Jejungwon (House of Universal Helpfulness), the first Western medical institution in Korea, during its first year of operation (April 1885 - April 1886). Drawn up by doctors working at the Jejungwon, including H. N. Allen and J. H. Heron, the report is regarded as an important material for persons studying the diseases suffered by locals at that time. The cover contains the words, “Compliments, H. N. Allen,” along with Allen’s signature, while the report itself contains drawings of the completed hospital, details of how the building came to be opened, information on diseases common that were prevalent in Korea at that time, statistics about outpatients and inpatients based on disease classification methods adopted by modern medical science, and finances.
