Established in 1931
This building enshrines Dangun Wanggeom, the legendary founder of Gojoseon. It was established by Sin Tae-yun (1885-1961), who led the March First Independence Movement in Gokseong, to inspire patriotism among young generation. Even during the Japanese Occupation, Korean people gathered here on National Foundation Day of Korea to perform memorial service and wish for the nation’s independence. The building is 3 kan (a unit of measurement referring to the distance between two columns) long at the front and 2 kan long at the sides, and is installed with gambrel roof. Decorations were given extravagantly with lotus, bud and phoenix head sculptures.
