This bridge, the longest in the south of Han River, was established to connect Gongju-eup and Jangji-myeon, which occupied important location in terms of transportation. Unlike most railroad bridges constructed in Korea in the past, Geumgang Railroad Bridge was constructed as a highway bridge, which is rare. The Warren truss-formed upper chord was designed in curved arch style, opening a new chapter of bridge construction history.
