The Hanging Painting of Donghwasa Temple in Daegu, which follows the tradition of hanging paintings of Rocana Buddha that was widespread in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in Korea, is considered a valuable resource for the study of traditional Buddhist paintings produced by monk-painters in the modern period.
It combines an excellent traditional painting technique with a western technique to create a three-dimensional effect, and also adopts a new method of designing patterns that differed markedly from the previous period.
