Joseongeul hwaeomgyeong is the the Avatamska Sutra translated in Korean. Buddhist Master Baek Yong-seong (1864–1940), one of thirty-three national representatives present at the March First Independence Movement of 1919, summarized the eighty volumes of the Avatamska Sutra (The Flower Garland Sutra) and translated them into Korean in 1928 when he was 65 years old. It is regarded as an important example of a document written in hangeul (Korean alphabet) from that time, owing to the fact that even proper nouns and common nouns were translated from Chinese into Korean, and because it made a great contribution to the popularization of Buddhist scriptures.
