A series of Buddhist scriptures were discovered inside the Wooden Seated Sakyamuni Buddha Triad, housed in Daeungjeon Hall of Donghaksa Temple in Gongju. All of these texts date from pre-Imjin War (Japanese Invasion of 1592) eras. Eight books of seven varieties were selected from them, based on the criteria of rarity, value and completeness, and were designated together as a cultural heritage object (Treasure).
