Sanbangsan Mountain, a domelike volcanic mountain, exudes a mysterious atmosphere and is known as one of the three most famous mountains on Jejudo Island, along with Hallasan Mountain and Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone. Locals say that clouds that gather around the mountain never fail to turn into rain. According to legend, the supreme god picked up one of the peaks of Hallasan and made it into its current form. Sanbanggul Cave, located around the mid-section of the mountain, commands an attractive view of the beach and the sunset.
