Korea National University of Cultural Heritage, takes first step to ‘Support Project for the Preservation and Management of Egyptian Cultural Heritage’

The Cultural Heritage Administration, Korea National University of Cultural Heritage(President Kang Kyung-Hwan has been selected for the “Support Project for the Preservation and Management of Egyptian Cultural Heritage.”
This project is a follow-up measure to the cultural heritage exchange and cooperation memorandum of understanding(MOU) signed last January 21st 2022 by the Cultural Heritage Administration (Administrator Cho Eung-Chon) and Egypt Supreme Council of Antiquities to expand the existing ODA project and pursue the Korea-Egypt ODA projects.
From 2023 to 2027, the project will be invested with approximately KRW 17.6 billion focusing on ‘Capacity Building for Development of Sustainable Cultural Heritage Tourism Resources in Luxor, Egypt’ and ‘Egypt Digital Heritage Center ODA Project’.
The main contents of the project include the improvement of Luxor’s cultural heritage tourism resources, restoration of the Luxor temple entrance, enhancement of cultural heritage preservation and management capabilities, establishment of a digital heritage center, cultivation of digital record specialists, and digital recording and database construction of heritages stored in six major museums and research institutes in Egypt.
The Cultural Heritage Administration, Korea National University of Cultural Heritage will endeavor to support sustainable development of Egypt’s cultural heritage tourism resources, enhance the capacity of conservation and management of cultural heritage, and strive to provide advanced management systems and infrastructure to support the digital transformation of Egypt’s cultural heritage.
