National Palace Museum of Korea to Collaborate with Four Korean and US Museums in the Promotion of the Joseon Dynasty Heritage Project

 - MOUs were signed on Friday, 14 June 2024 at the National Palace Museum of Korea with the aim of cooperating in the exhibition, research and utilization of cultural heritage from the Joseon royal court -

Jeong Yongjae, the director of the National Palace Museum of Korea, Korea Heritage Service signed MOUs with Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum, Amorepacific Museum of Art, Denver Art Museum and Cleveland Museum of Art for the Joseon Dynasty Heritage Project, on 14 June 2024, at the National Palace Museum of Korea, located in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The aim is to establish a cooperative relationship between the institutions in relation to the exhibition, research and utilization of cultural heritage from the Joseon royal court.
The detail of the agreement outlines the parties’ mutual cooperation in terms of the exhibition, education and research on cultural heritage relating to the Joseon royal court, the joint promotion of events, publications and publicity using Joseon dynasty royal heritage, and the inter-organizational support of human and material resources. As a result of this agreement, the five museums will proceed with various programs on Joseon dynasty royal culture to take place over the next three years.
It is hoped that the Joseon Dynasty Heritage Project, under a collaboration of prominent Korean and US museums, will enable both Korean and international audiences to enjoy the cultural heritage of the Joseon royal court more closely, now richly supported by the research achievements of the institutions accumulated overthe years. The five museums will be promoting various cooperative projects, including a special exhibition on Joseon royal culture, exhibition-related experience programs and field trips such as a visit to the royal kiln sites in Gwangju, as well as open lectures and comprehensive publications on the royal cultural heritage of the Joseon dynasty for general audiences.
The National Palace Museum of Korea, in keeping with proactive public administration principles of Korea Heritage Service, will further expand its cooperation with various specialized institutions in Korea and overseas, with the aim of actively preserving and passing down the cultural heritage of the Joseon royal court.
