Baekje Historic Areas, A UNESCO World Heritage site

On 4 July, Baekje Historic Areas was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site by 39th Session World Heritage Committee (28 June~8 July) at Bonn, Germany. ICOMOS, International Council on Monuments and Sites, marked the outstanding values of Baekje Historic Areas as it is representing well the exchanges in all aspects, artistic, cultural and technological, during that period among three ancient East Asia kingdoms in Korea, China and Japan. World Heritage Committee recommended that Korea shall complete the comprehensive plan of specific tourism strategies and categorized managements of tourists, as well as adjusted schedule of monitoring tasks for internal condition of mural painting and tombs of Gongju Songsan-ri and Buyeo Neungsan-ri. CHA will forward the establishment and practice of systematic conservation and utilization plans for Baekje Historic Areas by requesting for cooperation among local governments and other related organizations.
