Korea Heritage Service and Vank to Host

3rd Year Global National Heritage Ambassadors' Kick-off Ceremony

The Korea Heritage Service (KHS; Administrator Choi Eung-Chon), together with the Voluntary Agency Network Korea (VANK; Head Park Kitae), will be hosting the Kick-off Ceremony for the 3rd Year of the Global National Heritage Ambassadors at the National Palace Museum in Jongno-gu, Seoul on May 30. In 2020, the Korea Heritage Service signed an MOU with VANK as part of its active administration efforts and has consistently been nurturing National Heritage Ambassadors to promote our heritage and history accurately.

* VANK: A private cyber organization established in 1999 to accurately promote Korea to the world.

The Global National Heritage Ambassadors initiative, under the motto "Social Integration through National Heritage," aims to foster the experience of connecting with various members of society through sharing and experiencing our heritage. The Ambassadors are composed of 23 people of different nationalities and ages, ranging from international students to multicultural families. They applied for the Global National Heritage Ambassadors program for various reasons, from a pure interest in national heritage to a desire to share with the world the heritage of their second home, Korea, where they have lived for more than 10 years.

During the ceremony, the ambassadors will receive a special lecture on global national heritage by Park Kitae, Head of VANK, to ensure they can carry out ambassador activities with a clear understanding of national heritage. Following the lecture, they will participate in a training program where they will learn about Korean and global heritage and have the opportunity to experience Korean najeonchilgi. This will help them take pride in being Global National Heritage Ambassadors and further appreciate the charms of Korean heritage.

The Global National Heritage Ambassadors will be active from the ceremony until July 28 for about two months. They will promote Korean heritage worldwide by creating online content and introducing proper Korean names of our heritage so they can be used overseas. After the activity concludes, exceptional volunteers will receive certificates for their efforts.

The Korea Heritage Service is committed to encouraging active participation and enjoyment of national heritage in everyday life through simple and versatile methods in alignment with the Basic Principles of the National Heritage Protection Policies (as stated in Article 7 of the Framework Act on National Heritage), and actively promoting national heritage in Korea and abroad to contribute to social integration.
