Thank you for your concern about the precious natural heritage.

As was answered last year to your question, every activity that may affect heritage conservation cannot be carried out without permission of the Cultural Heritage Administration according to the Cultural Heritage Protection Act. By law, any person who violated this act will be punished by imprisonment for not more than two years or by a fine not exceeding twenty million won.

As for natural monuments specifically, people still often use flashlight to take a photo of them, an act that could affect life and growth of the creatures. But in reality, we cannot but admit that the crackdown on such activities is not enough to tackle the problem.

Under the circumstances, the CHA has drawn up measures including promotion especially of the matters to be attended regarding the illegal acts that would affect cultural and natural heritage by informing them on pages in our booklets and brochures.

We really appreciate your concern once again. Thank you.
