The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, an affiliate organization of the Cultural Heritage Administration, has published a book titled "Onggi" in English. Onggi refers to traditional Korean earthenware pottery, which is known for its nature-friendly and scientific features. The traditional pottery was also selected as one of the "Symbols of Korean Culture 100." The book "Onggi" introduces the manufacturing process of onggi and its usage with a variety of visuals. In particular, the three major elements in producing onggi - soil, fire, and spirit - are explained distinguishably in the book, for enhancing the understanding of the traditional pottery. The book will be distributed to relevant agencies and organizations in and out of the country and be accessible at the NRICH's website (www.nrich.go.kr/eng) sooner or later.
