‘Korea National University of Heritage Signs MOU with

Tainan National University of the Arts for Academic Exchange and Collaboration

- Memorandum of Understanding to Expand Academic Exchange and Cooperation in Cultural Heritage Field, November 15, 4 p.m.-

The Korea National University of Heritage (KNUH), under the Korea Heritage Service and led by President Kang Kyung-hwan, has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Taiwan’s Tainan National University of the Arts (TNNUA), headed by President Shang-chia Chiou, to foster academic collaboration and international exchange in the field of cultural heritage. The MOU signing ceremony took place at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at TNNUA’s campus in Tainan, Taiwan.

Founded in 1996, TNNUA is a distinguished institution dedicated to the arts, integrating traditional and contemporary arts through diverse undergraduate and graduate programs. Known for its emphasis on cultural heritage preservation and artistic innovation, TNNUA is closely tied to Tainan’s rich historical and cultural landscape—a city also famous as the setting for the popular drama “Someday or One Day”. TNNUA’s unique educational philosophy emphasizes the fusion of Taiwan's traditional arts with modern artistic practices.

This MOU aims to enhance mutual academic exchange between students, researchers, and faculty in both institutions. It sets the foundation for a series of initiatives, including regular seminars, workshops, academic conferences, and the exchange of resources and research. The primary objective is to promote knowledge-sharing and academic growth in the field of cultural heritage, while deepening cultural understanding between Korea and Taiwan.

As the only specialized university in Korea dedicated to national heritage, KNUH remains committed to expanding partnerships and collaborations with related institutions worldwide. The university aims to cultivate skilled professionals in the heritage sector, reinforcing its role as a leader in international cultural exchange and heritage conservation. Through this collaboration, KNUH and TNNUA anticipate significant advancements in both academic and cultural initiatives, benefiting both institutions and the broader cultural heritage community.
