Granary of Samnye refers to a group of four wooden and two masonry buildings conjectured to have been built in the 1920s, preserving many of their original features in good condition including their inner and outer walls, timber roof truss, and extended eaves. The small windows set high on the walls as well as the ventilation systems set on the roofs exhibit typical features of the grain storehouses built in the early 20th century. The buildings are also regarded as a valuable source of history of Korea in the early 20th century, during which the rich agricultural products of Honam Region, particularly rice, were systematically exploited by Imperial Japan.
