The fall of the Korean Empire in 1910 led Yi Si-yeong to dispose of the entire family fortune of his six brothers to establish the Sinheung Military School in Western Gando in Manchuria and train an army of Korean independence fighters. He also played a crucial role in the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and, after the country’s liberation in 1945, he served as Vice President in the ROK government. His tomb is widely regarded as both a valuable historical site and an educational asset for guiding today’s young generation to his devoted patriotic life.
