GoldStar Television VD-191 is Korea’s first black and white TV set made by GoldStar in 1966. As a 19-inch model done in the style of high-end furniture with four legs, the TV uses the NTCS system and interlaced scanning with 525 lines and features a mechanical tuner designed to choose channels manually as well as color and volume control terminals arranged on the front face. It forms an active circuit with twelve tubes and has a variety of functions such as amplification, detection, synchronizing separation, and amplification of sound and video signals. TV is made with complex mechanical and electronic systems involving advanced circuit and telecommunication techniques. The development of this particular product played an important role in the development of electronics technology and industrial design in Korea, laying a firm foundation for the country to enter the era of video media.
