The Plaster Standing Maitreya Buddha of Geumsansa Temple in Gimje, the work of Kim Bok-jin, a specialist in modern Korean sculpture, is considered a historic heritage and representative plaster statue of the modern period. Plaster was adopted as a new material after the disappearance of the traditional method of making large Buddha statues. Kim Bok-jin created this monumental work with his own new sculpting technique and ideas.
