The Plaster Standing Maitreya Buddha at Sorimwon Hermitage of Sinwonsa Temple in Gongju is considered a valuable heritage as it was created as a miniature version of the Plaster Standing Maitreya Buddha of Mireukjeon Hall at Geumsansa Temple, using plaster, which was a new material for making sculptures at that time. It reproduces the typical style of modern Buddha statues that were created by combining the traditional production method, based on the method of the Unified Silla period, with a western building material. It was auctioned off in a public bid before the creation of the Plaster Standing Maitreya Buddha of Geumsansa Temple in Gimje.
