Byeongsa Catholic Church was built in brick by patients suffering from Hansen's disease on Sorokdo Island. The church is considered a valuable historical material both as a spiritual place where patients healed their physical and psychological pains, and as a historical record of the patients’ spiritual life, along with the regional characteristics of Sorokdo Island.
