This seated stone Buddha on the ridgeline of the Samneung Valley, also called Eoreumgol Valley, was made by carving granite. It has a topknot-like usnisa (protrusion on the top of Buddha's head) with curled hair. The face looks affluent and plump, and the ears are short. The robe covers both shoulders with the pleats expressed simply and beautifully. The waist is narrow and the sitting stance is stable. The pedestal consists of a top, middle and bottom. The top has a lotus pattern and the middle has a panel design carved on each side of the octagon. The bottom is made up of a simple octagonal stone. In view of the lotus flower pattern, the panel design carved on the octagonal lotus pedestal, and the rigid and stable stance, it appears to have been made in the Unified Silla period, between the 8th and 9th centuries.
