The Seoksongnyeong Pine Tree in Cheonhyang-ri is located in front of the village hall of Seokpyeong Village. It is about 600 years old, with height of 11m and girth of 3.67m. With the tree branching into many pieces at the base, the main branch is indistinguishable from the branches. Its overall appearance also resembles an unfolded umbrella and stone columns were set up so that the side branches could be supported. The Seoksongnyeong pine tree is presumed to have been planted when a big flood occurred in Punggi Province about 600 years ago. The story is that, when a pine tree was being carried down Seokgancheon Stream during the flood, a passerby picked it up and planted it here. Later, a person named Yi Su-mok who lived in this village named the tree Seoksongnyeong, meaning pine tree that lives in Seokpyeong Village and has spirit. The 6,600m2 land came with the tree by inheritance, and he had it registered. As a result, the tree came to have its own property. The former president Park Chung-hee also granted the tree 5 million won. With the money of Seoksongnyeong, villagers set up a scholarship and awarded it to students. On the 15th of the New Year according to the lunar calendar, villagers pay homage to the tree to pray for peace. Since the Seoksongnyeong pine tree in Cheonhyang-ri, Yecheon is culturally valuable, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument.
