Cultural events at royal palaces and historic sites prepared by CHA for 2014 Seollal holidays. A. Gyeongbokgung Palace (Seoul) - Sebae (new year’s bow) to elders, experiencing traditional ondol floor-heating system - Jan 30 to Feb 1, Hamhwadang Hall and Jipgyeongdang Hall B. Deoksugung Palace (Seoul) - Folk games (tuho, yut nori, etc.) - Jan 30 to Feb 2 (9 am to 5 pm), Hamnyeongjeon Hall C. Yeongneung (Royal Tomb of King Sejong) (Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do) - Folk games (tuho, yut nori, etc.), writing and gifting calligraphy of new year’s wishes in Korean script for visitors - Jan 30 to Feb 2 (10 am to 5 pm), plaza & Jaesil building D. Tomb of Seven Hundred Patriotic Martyrs (Geumsan, Chungcheongnam-do) - Folk games (tuho, yut nori, etc.), distributing bokjori (bamboo strainers for fortune) to visitors - Jan 30 to Feb 1 (10 am to 5 pm), plaza E. Hyeonchungsa Shrine (Asan, Chungcheongnam-do) - Folk games (tuho, yut nori, etc.) - Jan 30 to Feb 1 (9 am to 5 pm), Chungmumun Gate The entrance fee is not charged on January 29 (A Day with Culture, every last Wednesday), and January 31 (Lunar New Year’s Day) at royal palaces and tombs and Jongmyo shrine. Also, free for hanbok wearers year-round.
