Cultural Heritage Committee, an advisory body of CHA, marks its 50th year of launching in 2012. The Committee, established in 1962, is responsible for investigating and deliberating key issues on national policies for cultural properties, which include designation/registration of state heritage and their cancellation, alteration to surroundings of designated sites, transfer of cultural properties, and nomination for UNESCO lists. To commemorate the anniversary, CHA held a celebration on April 30 and awarded appreciation plaques to the retired doyen members in recognition of their contribution. In there, the Committee newly announced the Statement of Cultural Heritage Committee for Protection and Promotion of National Properties, which contains philosophy of the country’s heritage protection in line with the Cultural Heritage Charter released in 1997.
