CHA to provide opportunities to experience Korean cultural heritage for participants of the World Scout Jamboree

-Free admissions, souvenirs and programs for participants of the World Scout Jamboree

The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA; Administrator: Choi Eung-chon) announced to provide opportunities to experience Korean cultural heritage for participants of the 25th World Scout Jamboree (Aug. 1–12) held in Saemangeum, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do until Aug. 12, 2023.

The CHA Royal Palaces and Tombs Center (Acting Director: Shin Seong-hui) will offer free admissions to four palaces in Seoul—Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung (sponsored separately), Deoksugung, and Changgyeonggung—as well as Jongmyo Shrine and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, and provide tour guides (including multilingual services) to the best of availability. Visitors must wear their scout uniform to enjoy this benefit and detailed information can be obtained by inquiring the relevant management office (see the attached contact list).

Moreover, the National Palace Museum of Korea (Acting Director: Yoon Tae-jeong), which is open year round with free admission, is prioritizing group reservations booked by participants of the World Scout Jamboree as well as providing free souvenirs and tour guides. Also, the National Intangible Heritage Center (Director: Ahn Hyeong-sun) is working with the municipal government of Jeonju to offer local experiences, such as traditional culture performances, exhibitions, and experience programs, while providing meals and rest areas. Due to early withdrawal from campground at Saemangeum on August 7, regional community program at the National Intangible Heritage Center has ended. Lastly, discount benefits will be provided for traditional culture amenities (i.e. Sarang Cafe in royal palaces, such as Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung and Deoksugung) operated by the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation.
