Extension of the Showcase of Sea, Cranes and Peaches

Prior to Its Return to the U.S.
December 4, 2020 - February 10, 2021, National Palace Museum of Korea

The National Palace Museum of Korea (Director: Kim Dong-Young), an affiliate of the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea, and the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation (Chairperson: Choi EungChon) announce the extension of the special exhibition Sea, Cranes and Peaches featuring the folding screen of the same title from the Dayton Art Institute in the United States that has been restored in Korea. The exhibition will be extended by a month, through February 10, 2021.

The special exhibition, inaugurated on December 4, 2020, presents the folding screen entitled Sea, Cranes and Peaches (a theme known as haehakbandodo in Korean), which had been brought to Korea for conservation and restoration. The exhibition was organized with the aim of offering the Korean public an opportunity to view the work for the first time in Korea prior to its return. The National Palace Museum of Korea, unfortunately, has been temporarily closed from the day following the opening of the exhibition to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In response to requests from the public, the exhibition will be extended to offer wider opportunities to visit the exhibition.

Visitors unable to visit the gallery in person may explore the exhibited work and description on the National Palace Museum of Korea website as well as stream the videos of the international symposium held in conjunction with the exhibition via the YouTube channel of the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation (http://www.youtube.com/user/okchf).
