Free visit and special events at royal palaces on Chuseok

Four royal palaces (Gyeongbok, Changdeok, Deoksu, and Changgyeong Palaces), Jongmyo Shrine and Joseon royal tombs will be opened to the public free of charge on Chuseok, Korea’s Thanksgiving Day - Sept. 12 (except Secret Garden at Changdeok Palace). Also, the Cultural Heritage Administration will hold various events to celebrate the country’s time-old holiday in the royal palaces at Seoul. In the courtyard in front of Jeukjojeon at Deoksu Palace, a performing event of “Korean folk songs (minyo) from Gyeonggi Province” will be held on Sept 12 and 13, and at Tongmyeongjeon in Changgyeong Palace, “Taking photos with king and queen” event is planned on Sept. 12. The “Moonlight Tour” in which visitors can enjoy the night air of Changdeok Palace will be held at the palace on Sept 12 and 13. (Foreigners are invited on Sept. 13 and reservation is required at www.chf.or.kr. 30,000 won per person.) No entrance fee is charged to visitors in traditional Korean costume (hanbok) from Sept. 11 to 13.
