Workshop on natural heritage conservation against climate change

The International Workshop for Strengthening the Capacity of World Natural Heritage against Climate Change is held in Suncheon City, South Jeolla Province on September 24-25. The international workshop is co-hosted by the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and South Jeolla and Sucheon local governments. The IUCN is an international organization of experts in natural heritage as well as advisory body to World Heritage Committee, which examines nominations, conservation and management of World Natural Heritage sites. About 70 local and international experts and site managers including from the IUCN will participate in the workshop, where impacts and challenges of climate change to natural heritage is to be discussed. Measures for more systematic conservations of natural heritages especially for the Asia-Pacific region are expected to be brought up during the meeting as well. Representatives from Korea, Australia, Japan and Germany will present their cases of natural heritage in order to share knowledge in the field.
