UNESCO WHIPIC to Host
2022 World Heritage Interpretation Presentation Forum
on 15th-16th November
- An off-line event that invites the presentations and discussions of heritage experts
in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention -
Cultural Heritage Administration(Administrator: Choi Eung-chon) and International Centre for Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites under the Auspices of UNESCO* host 2022 World Heritage Interpretation Presentation Forum at Seosomun Shrine History Museum, Seoul.
* International Centre for Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites under the Auspices of UNESCO is a category 2 centre of UNESCO established in January 2022 through the agreement between the Korean Government and UNESCO. The Centre supports the implementation of the World Heritage Convention(1972) and the strategies of UNESCO through research, education and training, and information sharing in interpretation and presentation of World Heritage.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention and the establishment of UNESCO International Centre for Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites(hereafter UNESCO WHIPIC or the Centre), the forum addresses the importance of heritage interpretation that contributes to Sustainable Development. The two-day forum consists of five sessions. With the topic of World Heritage Interpretation for Sustainable Development, the presentations and discussion sessions on the first day will address how heritage interpretation can contribute to the Sustainable Development and actively respond to the challenges the world is faced nowadays.

Cultural Heritage Administration expects that the forum will suggest a new agenda in the World Heritage interpretation and presentation, and give an opportunity for the experts around the world to set constructive goals for the future of World Heritage.
