Sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration (Director KIM Hyun-Mo), UNESCO- ICHCAP (Director-General KEAM Gi Hyung), holds "Silk Roads Living Heritage Network Launching Ceremony" and "2021 Expert Meeting for Building Network on Maritime Heritage" on October 28 and 29.
Silk Roads Living Heritage Network Launching Ceremony (Oct.28.-29.)
ICHCAP, with cooperation with the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) and Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat, co-host launching events on October 28-29 at DDP, Seoul and online during Korean Foundation's 'Public Diplomacy Week'.
On October 28, Silk Roads countries' diplomatic missions (Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Korea. Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) will participate in gracing the opening ceremony as founding members of the network. Following, under the theme of 'promoting a culture of peace and facilitating sustainable development along the Silk Roads,' Living Heritage Forum will be held to report case studies with representative experts from nine- member countries.
After the public event, Coordinating Bureau Meeting will be held in private on October 29. And Online Photo Exhibition is prepared as a side event from October 28 to December 7.
The network launch that aims to strengthen the capacity to safeguard ICH and share ICH information along the Silk Roads is expected to foster sustainable development by raising international awareness.
The launching event will be live-streamed via ICHCAP's YouTube channel simultaneously in English and Russian in addition to Korean.

The 2021 Expert Meeting for Building Network on Maritime ICH (Oct.29.)
The 2021 Expert Meeting for Building Networks on Maritime ICH is to be held on 29 October, 10:00 AM, KST as an online meeting. The theme of the meeting is “Coastal Communities in the Asia-Pacific Region and their Traditional Food System.”
It consists of two sessions that explore the coastal communities and their traditional food system into eco-cultural and socio-cultural approaches. It is co-organized with the Pacific community (SPC) and will be broadcast simultaneously in English and Korean through ICHCAP’s official YouTube channel. It will be a place to highlight issues on traditional food systems of the coastal communities and their unique knowledge system in terms of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage.
