The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, CHA’s affiliate research organization, holds the 9th Asia Cooperation Program on Conservation Science for ten researchers from eight Asian countries between April to June and August to October. The researchers will choose one of three fields (architecture, fine arts and conservation/ restoration) related to their specialty and study advanced conservation technology and research methodology for three months. The program is aimed to upgrade the overall standard of conservation and management of cultural heritage in the Asian region, expecting the trainees to utilize their learnt knowledge in their work back home. Participants are mostly working for government-run institutions or organizations, and the NRICH research professionals are involved as mentors for trainees. From 2005 when the project was launched up to last year, 56 Asian researchers completed the course. Besides the inviting program, the NRICH will dispatch professionals to the countries as well from this year to increase efficiency of the program.
