Are walking trails in a tomb garden available to the general public?

  • The walking trails in four royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty in the Seoul metropolitan area?Donggureung Royal Tomb, Seoorueng Royal Tomb, Yunggeolleung Royal Tomb, and Gimpojangneung Royal Tomb?have been opened since May 1st, 2004, allowing the general public to easily access and enjoy cultural heritages. In order to protect wild birds and animals and minimize damage to the forest, the trails are opened only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; only previously opened areas can be visited from December 1st to April 30th of the following year, when forest fire are more likely to occur.
  • While the opening of the walking trials in the royal tombs will help Korean people improve their health in a pleasant, natural environment, the royal tombs of Joseon Dynasty will serve as a field to learn and experience the history and culture of the period.
