  • Although Korea had created a plethora of national heritages and a splendid traditional culture over its long history, it lacked not only in human resources to effectively preserve and manage them but also in educational institutions to produce such professionals. In response to the challenge, the Korean government issued the Presidential Decree on the Establishment of the Korean National University of Cultural Heritage in 1996 and founded the four-year national university in 2000.
  • Practice-oriented programs are offered at the school by faculty with plentiful experiences in the field, members and expert members of the Cultural Heritage Committee, holders of important intangible cultural properties, and related professional civil servants. It has six departments: Cultural Properties Management, Traditional Landscape, Traditional Architecture, Traditional Arts and Crafts, Archaeology, and Conservation Science.
